Overview
Mega Dreoilín was my entry for the Art, Politics and Accessibility edition of LocJam. The project involved translating both the game scripts and the accompanying manual into Brazilian Portuguese.
Responsibilities
I translated and proofread the game text and manual, researched the cultural references, and prepared the layout of the final PDF manual.
Tools & workflow
I used memoQ as the CAT tool for the translation and additional layout tools to assemble the final PDF manual.
Challenges & solutions
Preserving cultural context
The game draws on the experiences and struggles of Irish youth. Cultural research helped me preserve those references while making them accessible to a Brazilian Portuguese-speaking audience.
Making the manual fit
I paid particular attention to the PDF layout, checking for text overflow and layout errors as the translated text was placed into the manual.
